CK Las Vegas

My little sister Amber flew out from Cali to join me at the CK Scrapbooking convention in Vegas this June.

It was both of our first time going to a convention and will definately not be our last. We had a fabulous time.  We took classes, shopped, met friends, and even volunteered. It was a great experience.

To showcase our wonderful time at the convention I created this whimsical LO.

I purchased the paper pack from Keller's Creations (acidfree.com) it is called the Augusta Collection.

What's Your Hobby

There are so many crafts and hobbies out there to choose from now and days; from jewlery to scrapbooking. Hearing what others do for fun is not only inspirational for me but also lets me connet with others. So what's your hobby and how long have you been doing it?

•I have been scrapping for nearly eleven years now.
•I also make cards and other paper crafts which I've been doing for almost five years.
•I love to design & sew clothing, something I've been doing for about fourteen years.
•I've been drawing since I was about 10, so almost twenty years.
•I make crochet afhgans and have been doing that for about 10 years.
•I've recently gotten into quilting (I've only made one!)
•I love making clay flowers and hope to get more involved with that since I've only been doing it about 2 months.
•I've been an enthusiastic photographer for nearly fifteen years.
•And lastly I am hoping to dabble in jewlery within the next year.

Love Deco

This is my latest distressed canvas project. I love the way it turned out. I can hang it on a wall or sit it on a counter or table.

For the letters I used a simple crackle technique. Just paint your project and let it dry. Then rub elemer's glue all over the top of the project and wait a few seconds. When the glues dried a little (not completely) add a second color of paint over the top. As the glue and paint dry they will crack...revealing the undercoat!

Hope you enjoy the new project and that it inspires you to create something beautiful!

Keeping in Touch

I wanted to upload my latest project. My twin sister and her four kids have lived in the same town in Cali their whole lives...until a few weeks ago. I kept racking my brain to come up with something that would make the move easier for the kids and came up with this.

First I purchased one of those pre-made magnetic dry erase boards on clearance at Michaels.

Next I used my Cricut to cut of all 50 states with my 50 States Cartridge.

Once they were all cut out I used Mod Podge to adhere them to the board and then again to seal them shut.

After I got that all finished up I printed my own catchy saying ("Families may move away...but their love grows stronger every day!") across the top and bottom and adhered/sealed it with the Mod Podge.

For the final personal touch I used glass circles purchased from craftfantastic.com with Aleene's Paper Glaze and small photos.

To finish it off I added thin magnet sheets to the back of each photo circle.

Now the kids can interact with the map, moving people around as they go about their lives and move around the country! They can also jot notes down around the map and pin things in the corkboard around the frame.

I hope that you all enjoy this wonderful project and that it inspires you to create something beautiful!

Getting Organized

Luckily for me, we bought a good sized house and I get to have my very own craftroom!  It started off completely empty and has been upgraded several times over the last two years....its still not finished!!

Here it is so far

Remember: The better your organization system, the more effective you and your pages will be! Setting up a permanent space, even if it's tiny, will save you tons of energy and give you more time to spend scrapping.
